In the context of the development of Ukrainian statehood, strengthening its scientific potential and forming qualified professional personnel is of particular importance. The further development of Ukraine in the contemporary conditions is linked to the orientation towards metamodern trends in social reproduction. The essence of these trends is the increasingly significant use of information and knowledge as the most important type of resource, which increasingly defines the future of the state. At the same time, in the modern world, there is no proposed "correct" singular or pluralistic position; instead, it is affirmed that one should search for it personally and remain in a state of seeking between opposites. In this context, the author's perspective of V.V. Kotsur on the issues of national minorities in Ukraine during the 1990s to the early 21st century is particularly relevant. The researcher deepens the idea that is actively discussed in the contemporary intellectual space about the role of socio-political transformations and their impact on the status of Ukrainians and other ethnic communities in Ukraine, as well as the formation of the civil identity of the polyethnic population of the state. The confirmation of this idea is the miscalculations of the Russian aggressor regarding the division of Ukrainian society along national lines, which was the bet of the neighbouring state on the eve of the undeclared Russian-Ukrainian war. The author presents a contemporary view of the spiritual and intellectual situation that has developed in the multinational Ukrainian society, the emergence of new judgments regarding the state regulation of the processes of the politicisation of ethnicity in Ukraine in response to the foreign policy challenges of the 21st century.
