In Ukraine, as in the whole world, there continues transformation of the educational paradigm, which, in turn, causes a transformation methods of using, searching and working with information. The main thing, why are designed to teach students modern Institution of Higher Education is critical thinking. In this regard special attention should be pay to the university library, in particular the realization of its educational function. The Library as a basic social institute at a high professional level detects, analyzes and systematizes the best samples of intellectual products. The compilation of one type of bibliographic manuals - bibliographic indexes – is an important area of library and information work. The article highlights one of the priority areas of information activity of the university library - the compilation of personal bibliographic indexes of prominent figures of the region by students of the experience of the Department of Social Sciences, Information and Archival Affairs of the CNTU. Proposed conditional selection five thematic groups of personalities: scientists in the technical field; scholars of social and humanitarian sphere; edge artists; writers and literators of the region; edge educators. Defined the basic structural elements of bibliographic documents, quantitative indicators of groups, priority groups were noted. The basic approaches to terminological definition of bibliographic manuals as biobibliographic or personal documents are analyzed. The cooperation of the Department of Social Sciences, Information and Archival Affairs with the university library was noted, as well as the prospects of further joint activity, and outlines the prospects for further joint activities
