The formation of the national information space in the latest conditions of mass dissemination of information and communication technologies, where often there is unverified or false information, is impossible without the development of such a traditional form as documentary editions. The scientific novelty is based on comparison strategies, typology, principles of historicism, social approach. The logic of the presentation of the material is based on the problem-historical principle, which allows to reveal the main topics and directions of the published collections of documents in chronological order. The scientific novelty of intelligence is due to the fact that the issue of analysis of the place and role of documentary publications in the formation of the information space has not yet been the subject of special research. A generalized analysis of the implementation of documentary collections of informational, social and cultural functions with the most generalizing function of documents in general, which is their ability to store and transmit (disseminate) information in time and space. It is shown that the volume of documentary materials published after the Second World War is quite voluminous and has created thematic blocks with a very broad chronology in the information space of Ukraine. A significant contribution to the formation of a scientifically sound information space of editions documentary editions prepared in the regions since the beginning of our century, devoted in particular to topics that have developed since independence. It can be stated that historians and archivists generally cope with the task of showing an objective picture of historical events. At the same time, the state of the national information space has significant reserves for the preparation of documentary publications that would meet the pressing information needs of the population
