Abstract
In the article the authors substantiate the importance of scientifically and research activities in the process of forming the professional competence of future specialists in the specialty «Information, library and archival affairs». The essence of the concepts «competence» and «competency» is analyzed. The interpretation of competence in the research of domestic scientists is considered. Different accents of understanding professional competence are presented. Generalized the results of scientific research on the essence of the concept of «research activity», which is an important factor in the formation of professional competence of higher education. Scientifically and research activity provides mastering by specialists of methodology and methods of scientific research, forms a scientific worldview, a powerful preparation for further practical activities in the professional sphere. Work on scientific research contributes to the formation of high professionalism, raising the general intellectual level, the development of creative thinking and individual abilities. Questionnaires of students on involvement in various types of scientifically and research activities showed the urgent need in the effective realization of scientific potential in the process of writing qualification works. The general and professional competencies of masters in information, library and archival affairs of the Central Ukrainian National Technical University are considered. Of particular importance in the formation of professional competence of a specialist in information, library and archival affairs acquires his work on scientific research. The article outlines the areas of qualification works of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) level of higher education of students of the Department of Social Sciences, Information and Archival Affairs of CNTU. The problems of scientific research are presented, confirms the practical orientation of scientifically and research work of applicants for higher level education. It is proved that the solution of these problems is the main driver in the process of forming professional competence
