The article describes the problem of the Ukrainian-speaking sphere of social life with regard to security; attention is focused on the Ukrainian-speaking information space, which forms a system of public opinion, beliefs and motives for action; the necessity to transform the Ukrainian language into a tool for thought of Ukrainians and understanding of social processes is pointed out. In the context of digitalization, the Ukrainian language is presented as an important tool in the system of state document circulation and therefore as a necessary instrument for functional literacy. This paper concentrates on the language as a civilizational value for Ukrainian society which in the context of hybrid war becomes an object of special protection. For this reason attention is paid to the media activities, through which the language can acquire the status of a unifying force of society in the struggle for state independence. Considering the Ukrainian language as a state-formative and safe value, the author has emphasized the mechanisms of their provision, namely the media activities, educational institutions of all levels and at all levels of governance for preservation and conscious deepening knowledge of language as a component of national identification. The author concludes that nowadays there is a fragmentary identification process with an element of consciousness of their national purpose. Language, in this case, plays a role of a conscious element of the use, an object of dignity and patriotism. The more critical political situation in Ukraine, the more the media raises the language issue: often with a negative-political underlying idea, but more as a unifying-patriotic component of the national structure. The forming the citizens’ identification of Ukraine depends to a considerable degree on the media activities and the consolidation of the Ukrainian society to bring the state at the appropriate level of world recognition depends on it.
