Abstract
The article certain factors that actualize the study of the structure and content of professional disciplines designed for educational programs. Researchers of the problems of developing the content of the academic discipline and its scientific and methodological support in the field of a new specialty. Archival information becomes more open, access to it is expanded. Attention is focused on modifications of the content of academic disciplines within the framework of new special sciences. The expediency of classifying the specialization «Document Management and Information Activities» as the branch of knowledge «Management and Administration» is substantiated, which would result in a close interdisciplinary connection between «Archival Studies» and management disciplines. The content of the discipline for different specialties and specializations «historian-archivist», «documentary specialist-archivist», «document management and information activity» is characterized. The educational components that precede the discipline «Archival Studies» are indicated. The need for an interdisciplinary study of «Archival Studies» and «History of State Institutions» is demonstrated. The variability of teaching «Archival Studies» is proposed, the author’s vision of the structure of the discipline, its theoretical and practical components based on the requirements for the competencies of specialists is stated. The content of competencies acquired as a result of studying the topics of each module is detailed. The relevance of discussions at the interuniversity level of issues regarding the nomenclature and content of professional disciplines and the borrowing of the teaching experience of «Archival Studies» is indicated
