Анотація
У статті встановлено основні досягнення сільськогосподарських статистичних робіт Херсонського губернського земства та їх роль у становленні сільськогосподарської дослідної справи. Для досягнення мети роботи проаналізовано сільськогосподарські описи губернії та повітів, складені земськими статистиками Херсонської губернії у період 1863–1917 рр. З’ясовано історичні обставини, що зумовили застосування статистиками Херсонського губернського земства вибіркових статистичних методів при виконанні завдань для потреб сільськогосподарської діяльності. Розглянуто також особливості впровадження статистичної методології земськими установами губернії при вирішенні науково-дослідних завдань аграрної галузі. Показано, що земські статистики Херсонської губернії постійно дотримувалася застосування вибіркових методів дослідження, експедиційного методу та враховували специфіку природно-географічних, соціально-побутових та інших умов життя населення. Розвинення ними підходів чернігівського типу земської статистики забезпечило вивчення впливу природно-географічних факторів на продуктивність сільського господарства. Статистики Херсонського губернського земства досліджували сівозміни для різних типів землеволодінь з метою отримання характеристики різних типів господарств. За результатами досліджень вони довели можливість побудови заздалегідь розрахованих сівозмін. У роботі висвітлено, що статистики Херсонського губернського земства, не обмежуючись у своїх дослідженнях розробкою суто оціночних показників, на основі глибокого аналізу тенденцій розвитку вибіркових статистичних досліджень розробили ґрунтовні методи оцінювання та впровадили математичні методи дослідження для аналізу різних сільськогосподарських показників. Завдяки їм сільськогосподарський дослід, як вибіркове дослідження, став передбачати наявність спеціально складених спостережень за ґрунтом, рослинами, умовами середовища. Сформована статистиками для потреб губернії методика спостережень, аналізів і обліку заклала методичну основу методів проведення сільськогосподарських дослідів
