Abstract
The purpose of the article is to study the formation and development of agricultural research in the prism of the development of social agronomy. In solving the tasks of this study, the principles of historicism, scientific, objectivity, complexity of sources and methods were used: historical and scientific analysis, historical analysis, analysis and synthesis, logical, generalization, problem-chronological, periodization, retrospective, personification. For the first time in the national historical literature the formation and development of agricultural research and social agronomy and their mutual influence are considered. The urgency of the research topic is due to the fact that the public agronomy was created in order to increase mass agricultural production, was one of the main reasons for the development of agricultural research, especially after state support at the legislative level. It was found out that agricultural research is a deep and comprehensive study in specialized research institutions of agronomic, zoo technical and other agricultural phenomena carried out in natural and specially created conditions with the use of appropriate methods and tools in order to work out the most appropriate ways and approaches to increase cultural the level of agriculture, as well as the search for other means and methods for providing scientific and practical assistance to the agrarian production in order to obtain me the greatest number and best quality ecologically balanced agricultural products. Priority reasons for the organizational appearance of agricultural research should include the evolution of the so-called social agronomy that arose, as was the domestic agricultural research, in the early 80 of the nineteenth century. It is determined that the considerable development of agricultural research was acquired at the beginning of the 20 th century after the first congress of agronomic assistance to the population on February 10-19, 1901 in Moscow.
