Abstract
The 60s and 70s of the twentieth century marked an important new stage in Ukrainian cinema. S. Parajanov's film Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, based on the work of Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi, made a great contribution to the progress of cinema at that time. This film is unique both as an artistic phenomenon and as an integral part of the national heritage. The fame of the Ukrainian film spread far beyond the borders of the USSR.
