Abstract

Historical events are, first and foremost, the history of people, their everyday life, stereotypes of views and behaviour in different conditions and circumstances. This also applies to the figures of prominent statesmen and public figures who were active in the Ukrainian lands of the Russian Empire in the pre-revolutionary period. However, there are numerous gaps in the historical literature in this regard. In particular, the life and activities of the governor of Katerynoslav, D. Martynov (1893-1897), are extremely poorly studied in historiography.
