Abstract
The article deals with the linguistic and non-linguistic reasons for borrowing of English lexemes into the modern Ukrainian language The problem of anglisicsms in Ukrainian language is relevant to the modern linguistics. Ukraine takes part in processes of globalization and this has an infl uence on its vocabulary – Ukrainian language becomes enriched with new lexemes from English. Linguists have different attitude to this phenomenon – some of them think that there are too many anglicisms in Ukrainian language and they ruin its uniqueness while others are sure that such enrichment has a very positive impact on modern culture. The aim of this research is to analyze linguistic and non-linguistic reasons for borrowing of English lexemes into the modern Ukrainian language. It is proved that the reasons for borrowing of anglicisms are necessity of nominations for new items and phenomena, the principle of language economy, the need of new means of expression, development of social and economic relations, popularity of foreign words and aesthetic views of speakers
