Abstract
The article examines the processes of evolution of the activities of libraries of higher education institutions under the influence of today’s innovative transformations. The formation of an open information space in the libraries of higher education institutions, providing wide access to a variety of information, a complex combination of its types and types should contribute to the creation of a flexible infrastructure of information support for the activities of the institution of higher education, the satisfaction of the information needs of scientific and pedagogical workers and students of higher education, the activation of a modern range of services and services of the library as a cultural and educational center. Modern automated library and information systems (ABIS), which are used in the activities of library institutions of higher education institutions of Ukraine, are presented. Their role is determined as a reliable tool for creating electronic resources of the libraries themselves, as well as an effective means of supporting the educational and scientific activities of higher education institutions. The library and information resources of the library of the Central Ukrainian National Technical University were analyzed. Attention is focused on the implementation of an automatic open access library system in the university library of the National Technical University, designed to support traditional library technological processes. Functional capabilities of this system, its advantages and disadvantages, problems of adaptation and implementation are defined. Proposals for improving the information of library users in the context of the functioning of automated information and search systems have been developed, as well as the prospects for the development of the library in the context of further informatization of society have been outlined
