Abstract
The article is dedicated to the analysis of documents about the life, teaching, scientific, and public activities of the scientist, humanist, dissident, and the first Doctor of Historical Sciences in Poltava region, Professor Anton Samiylovych Cherevaniy. These documents came to the State Archive of the Poltava Region from the V.G. Korolenko Poltava National Pedagogical University and from Professor Hanna Kapustуan. These documents formed the basis of the Personal Fund of Professor Cherevaniy in the State Archive of the Poltava Region. The purpose of the article is to analyze the subject matter of the documents in the Personal Fund of Professor Cherevaniy, which underpin the same-named fund in the State Archive of the Poltava Region, and to stimulate interest in the life and creative path of Professor Cherevaniy as a person, citizen, and scientist. The classification of the documents in the Personal Fund of Professor Cherevaniy is based on a thematic principle. A significant part of the documents in the Personal Fund of Professor Cherevaniy concerns his scientific research and teaching activities. The documents in the Fund reveal the dynamics of Cherevaniy’s formation as a scientist, the preparation and defense of his dissertation «Essays on the history of the socio-economic and legal status of state peasants in the Urals and the European North of Russia before the reform of P.D. Kiselyov» (in Russian) for the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences. The source base of the doctoral dissertation was mainly composed of the funds of state archives: Moscow, Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, Petrozavodsk, Vologda, Kirov, Perm, Sverdlovsk, Shadrinsk. The documents of the Fund testify to Professor Cherevaniy’s participation in the research of the history of Poltava region, in particular in the Project «History of cities and villages of Ukraine». The Fund contains interesting and unusual documents for today –epistolary heritage, including correspondence with well-known scientists-historians, the founders of thematic directions of Soviet historical science. The memorial component of the Fund’s documents is represented by documents about the perpetuation of the memory of Professor Anton Cherevaniy: collections of six scientific readings of Cherevaniy, initiated in 2006 at the V.G. Korolenko Poltava National Pedagogical University for the 100th anniversary of the scientist. Since then, the historical faculty of the pedagogical university periodically organizes Cherevaniy’s scientific readings
