Abstract
The reflection of documentary scientific discussions in the concepts, structure and content of educational disciplines of higher education institutions is a sign of the close relationship and mutual influence of science and the educational process. Development of educational and working programs, syllabi and teaching of individual disciplines not only highlight unresolved problems in certain fields of scientific knowledge, but also stimulate theoretical-fundamental and theoretical-applied research. The latter should include the study of the species classification of special documentation. Understanding the structure and content of the educational discipline “Special types of documentation”, included in the list of components of the educational program for training specialists of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education in the specialty 029 Information, library and archival affairs, determined a range of unresolved/discussed issues in document studies: the essence of the concepts “type documentation” and “special types of documentation”; that there is a specific classification of documentation systems not only within the framework of management documentation, but in the general classification scheme of documentation, which also includes management documentation itself; what are the criteria/signs of differentiation, assigning documentation systems to one or another special type; whether the documentation of the institution, its structural division can be classified as special types of documentation; What are the directions of research into special types of documentation in branch or special document studies, etc. Accumulation of empirical material in the study of special types of documentation (determination of the species composition of documentation and factors affecting their formation) will lead to the theoretical level of studies: substantiation of basic concepts regarding types of documentation and special types of documentation, development of a classification scheme of types of documentation in accordance with the laws of systematics, interspecies relations documentation links and internal links of documents forming special types of documentation
