Abstract
In 1917–1921, when the empires within which the Ukrainian lands lay swayed and fell, Ukrainians were given a chance to establish their own statehood. One of the urgent and first issues was the formation of its own financial and monetary system as a necessary attribute of each state. Researchers studied the history of money circulation during the Central Rada, the Hetmanate of P. Skoropadskyi, the Directory and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic during the XX-XXI centuries. The authors revealed historiographical issues in the context of their own research on the history of money circulation. Science needs a purely historiographical analysis of the existing historical base. Contemporaries of events, well-known specialists in numismatics, history and finance made their own contribution to the scientific achievements of the issue. It is necessary to emphasize the works published abroad in the twentieth century. In 1972, in Munich, the well-known statesman of the Central Council and Directory B. Martos and J. Zozulia published the work "Money of the Ukrainian State", in 1974 M. Hnatyshak's book "State Money of Ukraine 1917-1920" was published in Cleveland. During the years of independent Ukraine, a constellation of prominent researchers chose the history of money circulation in Ukraine in general and during the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921 in particular as a circle of scientific interests. In 1917–1921, the scientist R.Y. Thorzhevskyi. The scientist D.F. Dmytrienko, under whose leadership the team of authors published "Money in Ukraine: Facts and Documents", in addition, she worked out the problems of the issue under N. Makhno. The financial and monetary policy of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Hetmanate is studied by P.P. Guy the Lower. In recent years, an important contribution to the scientific achievements of the history of money circulation has made I.G. Skomorovych. In addition, the relevant historical aspects are engaged in scientists N.I. Doroveeva, R.M. Shust. Thus, the urgent issue is the development of historiographical works, systematic and comprehensive analysis of opinions and views of researchers in order to identify the necessary for further study of "dark spots" in the history of money circulation in Ukraine
