Abstract

The importance of language as an information retranslator, an experience qualificator, the main means of communication, material mentality exponent is becoming more and more obvious. Language recreates objective cognized reality and is one of the nation’s individual markers, it enables communication in all social life spheres. New media contexts contribute to the development of unusual neolexemes, however this phenomenon is possible on the condition that a projection of derived meaning is contained in semantics of an original lexical semantic variant. Neologism is a nominative unit, which is formed according to a productive and regular derivation model in a certain period of society development and can become commonly used, mainly in the mass media. The first quarter of the 21st century was a new challenge for the humanity in general and Ukrainian society in particular. For the whole planet this period was marked by the appearance of a new virus SARS-CoV-2, that caused a new disease covid-19. Media outlets pay great attention to covering individual and social, physical and psychological problems caused by mentioned virus. They make used linguistically in society the innovations which were created in interpersonal communications and were faceted in journalists’ adaptation. In this article the author demonstrates contextual realization of mentioned lexemes which dominate the Internet use. These lexemes characterize not only the people’s psychological state, their anxiety displays, fear, emotional tension etc., but also economic crisis that could not help influencing the financial state of many families. Neologisms, that are thematically connected with nominations defining a new virus and its impact on a human and society, should be classified according to their lexical and grammatical meaning, morphemic structure, stylistic use etc. Their spelling needs to be normalized as well. Presenting the news from all life spheres, the mass media use live lexical material, transform it and introduce into social speech. Innovative vocabulary is a language marker of a modern society. After appearing in the mass media, it gets new aspects on a speech level and needs further linguistic work and specialists’ interpretation. It is especially important for the part of vocabulary that after some time will transfer from speech use only into language system. Lexical and semantic, derivative, graphical and orthographical aspects, connected with the use of neolexemes in the mass media, need to be ordered and normalized. Described modern lexical markers are only a small part of all quantity of existing neologisms, they give just a general idea of the dynamics of the changes in the vocabulary of modern Ukrainian. That is why the prospects of further research are not only in the broadening of the object of analysis, but also in the defining and describing the specifics of the semantic processes that cause the development of new meanings, as well as in the finding and interpreting the derivative processes and models, which are regular and productive for neolexemes formation
