Abstract

The publication is devoted to the study of information culture in the context of the development of modern media space and network communications. In the conditions of intensive information exchanges, the media space has become an important component of the functioning and development of modern society, because it transforms the human consciousness through the whole set of channels of formation, transmission and storage of information. Modern communication society is characterized by the constant increase, acceleration, consolidation and globalization of communications, the number of which is constantly growing, changing, more and more people are involved in the communication process, the relationship between individual communications is becoming wider. The development of social networks is actively modifying communication, outlining new forms of contact between content producers and consumers, the subjects of network communication are increasingly becoming users themselves. The article analyzes the statistical indicators of the number of Internet users and users of social networks in the world and in Ukraine. It is proved that in recent years (including due to limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic) the rapid development of social networks as a means of information exchange has reached such a scale that it can be considered a new stage in the formation of intrasystem network communications. That is why there is a need to significantly improve the overall culture, both individuals and social groups as a whole, and most importantly its information component - information culture. It is concluded that the culture of the information society has a number of features - the network principle of operation and distribution, virtual nature, short-term, spontaneous form of information. Within this culture, the meaning and role of the individual objectively change. Therefore, we should not forget about the possibility of negative impact of new information trends on existing cultural and moral values, as well as on humanity as a whole. Expanding the possibilities of access to information, it is necessary to take into account that the information itself is not useful as such, it becomes useful only when it is logically understood and transformed into fruitful knowledge
