Abstract

The article considers the problems of professional training of Press and Public Relations specialists. It was analyzed existing legislation (current at the time of writing the article), that regulates this process in Ukraine. The attention was drawn to the fact that Press and Public Relations specialists are being prepared at the faculty of Journalism (broad fields 06 «Journalism», major (narrow field) 061 «Journalism») for the training program (detailed field of study) 6.030302 «Advertising and Public Relations» (by type of activities). This is common for advertising and public relations. It was justified the position, that specialists in the training program (detailed field of study) of «Public Relations» should be prepared by the major «Social Communications» within the framework of the broad field 05 «Social and Behavioral Sciences». Attention was drawn to the interdisciplinary nature of scientific research in the field of social communications, which precisely provides the effective training of specialists in «Public Relations». The authors concluded that the development of the information society changes the requirements for training personnel in the field of public relations, naturally forming independent areas of the social sciences. Now we can observe the existence of a contradictory position between the declarative slogans relating to the need for effective establishment and further development of social communications in society at the state level. And at the same time, we notice their displacement from the field of knowledge & science. Therefore, the recognition, that social communication is an independent area of social sciences at the legislative level, will contribute to the activation of domestic scientific research, that will be aimed at: meeting the socio-cultural needs of society, the spread of managerial, information and political cultures, increasing media literacy level and the development of a strategy to resist the information war unleashed by the Russian Federation against Ukraine
