Abstract
The development of modern information and communication technologies, the growth of the amount of information determine the nature of our times. New information and communication technologies carry a huge transformational impact on all spheres of modern society both within national borders and in the whole world. The global processes that occur inevitably increases the interest to the theoretical understanding of the features of the information society and the empirical study of the impact of ICT on the transformation of the socio-economic, political and cultural structures. Now to achieve the main goal – effective integration of Ukraine into the global information community, it is necessary to solve a unique in world history task – to form an information space and simultaneously create a democratic, social, legal state and civil society. The theoretical study of the development of information society falls far short from practical use of information and communication technologies. The purpose of the study is a comprehensive disclosure of the essence of information society, the study of the impact of ICT on socio-economic processes in a democratic society. In today’s world, information technologies are increasingly used in environmental, medical, military, political, administrative, media and communication, cultural, scientifi c and educational spheres, altering them and providing social and human development of new skills, meanings and dimensions. Information component also plays a signifi cant role in shaping of the competitive potential of states, development of international relations.
