Comparative characteristics of classification systems UDC and LBC

Abstract

The article analyzes the common in Ukraine Universal Document Classifi cation, comparative analysis and classifi cation of UDC and LBC, shown their advantages and disadvantages, given trends in the development of these systems and features of using of modern information services. It was determined that these classifi cation systems have several advantages and disadvantages, because they have different criteria. But they do not lose its relevance, their position on the use on the territory of Ukraine strengthened. Comparative analysis showed that UDC has the same requirements for documentary classifi cation system as a universal, international, adaptability to new fi elds of knowledge.
