Abstract
The article analyzes the existing approaches to the study of the phenomenon of information culture, in particular – to the content and scope of this concept. Own definition and the structure of information culture are proposed. Information culture is considered as a way of human life in the information society, an integral part of the process of the culture of mankind formation, as a culture of man, ready for creative work in the conditions of technological and information system of society development. This definition of information culture allows you to consider the main problems and trends systematically in the development of information culture, to identify the object and subject of its study adequately, as well as to structure its subject area. From the point of view of cultural and activity based approaches, the structure of information culture is theoretically substantiated as isomorphic to the structure of culture, and which, accordingly, as an adjustment (value) and behavioral matrix contains three main components-archetypes - 1) knowledge-value (worldview; information and computer skills; and literacy, as well as information outlook and information worldview - a system of views and beliefs based on knowledge of «information-cultural» nature), 2) activity based (operational; «information activity», which combines both the practical interaction of the person with the objects of the information environment, the development of the necessary skills and skills for it, and the technology of human activity in the information environment – information search technologies, multimedia, virtual reality, etc.), 3) institutional (information infrastructure institutions for the collection, dissemination and use of information). The importance of defining the categorical status of the «information culture» concept is emphasized in the formation of a new field of knowledge – information culture, the content of which is a systematic study of both instrumental and humanitarian aspects of the development of society, the study of the phenomenon of information culture as a subsystem of culture, formed under the influence of culture process of informatization of society and combines all aspects of human activity in the information environment
